The Twist is a brand new movie that just debuted in theaters across the country. Directed by Greg Garcia, the film stars Anna Kournikova as a pregnant Russian spy who works overseas and becomes the target of a double life. Anna Kournikova also has an impressive acting resume that includes serving as a model for a clothing line and in television shows. The movie was produced by DreamWorks Animation and written by Christina Vanek.
The Twist revolves around Anna Kournikova's character Alexeyev. He works for an agency that sends him into dangerous situations to retrieve cargo that has been jeopardized. Because of this he often wears a mask that conceals his identity. However, when the agency learns that he is an expert spy, they hire him in order to track and kill those that pose a threat.
Anna Kournikova's character is skilled at her job and goes under false names. While she is meeting with clients, she is also carrying out assignments in her own home. When her cover is blown, she finds herself in the middle of a conflict that involves both her boss and a dangerous national security official. As the events unfold, she is forced to use her knowledge and skills to help everyone get out of danger and solve the crime.
The Twist is different from your run-of-the-mill spy thriller because it tells a very unique story about a woman with very specific circumstances. Even the supporting characters are given strong personalities so that the viewer can get a full picture of what is going on. This is a movie that you should not simply scan for keywords and watch without being prepared for the end. If you find yourself having to look up multiple pages of subtitles, then this is not the right movie for you.
The story is broken up into three major scenes. The first introduces us to Alexeyev, his accomplice, and their handler, Vasili. The two men go to the country where the cargo is due to be delivered. There they meet with members of a local criminal group and decide to rob them blind, but before they can execute their plan they are ambushed by the local authorities.
The second scene takes place at a dinner party in the town of Dobrinishte. While the guests are eating and someone gets up to give Vasili a piece of food, he slips a wire through his ear. Alexeyev then finds out that he has some Russian cash hidden in his ear and he and Vasili sneak out of the restaurant. The twist ending here ties in nicely with the third act, as the two men return to the restaurant, where Alexeyev kills Vasili with a gun he has modified to look like a bomb, but instead it accidentally blows up in the restaurant and burns his foot.
