"Tom and Jerry" are the classic animated cartoon about two young lovers who live in an imaginary world. These lovable characters have captured the imagination of children and adults for over 50 years. One of my favorite things about this film is the candy-themed candy and souvenirs that are sold in movie theaters. This theme is carried over well in creating a set of four new collectible candy Tom & Jerry collectibles available from four different manufacturers. These sweet sweets can be made as part of a collector's item or personal gift. The choice is up to you!
Prepare the spice blend by mixing together the allspice, cinnamon and cloves. Cut the yolk from the egg. Place the whites in a non-reactive bowl and gently beat them into stiff, high peaks. In your Tom & Jerry Bowl (also, of course, another ceramic bowl) or other porcelain bowl, beat the yolk into thick peaks again. You will have several of these peaks left over. Now, you can add this spiced yolk to the bottom of a clean, dry tea pot, which has been covered with water.
Next, boil the milk in a small sauce pan. Once the milk begins to boil, remove it from the heat. Fill the pan with the simmering water and place the sugar cubes inside. If necessary, add a few drops of water or liquid smoke as well. Allow the sugar mixture to steep for approximately three minutes. Once it's finished steeping, remove it from the heat and stir in the yeast.
After your sugar mixture is done, it's time to make your favorite candies in the shape of Tom & Jerry. Gather all of your pieces and wrap them individually in a piece of wax paper. Wrap the package in wax paper and put into the wax pan. Add any other candy ingredients (sugar, licorice etc) and allow them to steep for approximately two minutes. Once they are finished steeping, remove them from the heat and allow them to cool off.
Once your Tom & Jerry candy molds are cool, remove them from the heat and place them in their sealable plastic bags. You can then seal them up in the freezer until ready to assemble into a candy mold. Before you do so, you should run a hot water bath over the pieces to prevent them from sticking together. Once you're sure they're completely cool off, remove the plastic bag of your Tom & Jerry and pour the water into your mold.
Now that you know how easy it is to make your own movie themed sweets, you may want to think about making some of them for your own special occasions. If you're planning a movie night at your house, you could even make some molds of popcorn. You can then put the different colors on top of each and put them in a tin. Then your guests can take one out at the party and have their own copy of the movie!
