Moulin Rouge: The Moulin Rouge is another legendary musical comedy classic that has been given the title, "The Playhouse Tonight". The Playhouse first opened its doors in Broadway at 360 Broadway. During its seven years on the famous street, the Playhouse presented over one hundred shows each month. The cast included Academy Award Winners Marlon Brando, Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, John Murray Anderson, Frank Capra, Richard Burton, Andie Wilson, and Richard Lewis. This show is still seen at various theaters across the United States.
The Playhouse was sold off to the New York Times for twelve million dollars. In exchange for the right to use the Playhouse for a musical, the owners agreed to give two million dollars to any female who could sing and dance for two hours straight. Two years later the Playhouse closed it's doors for good and was replaced by Micky Younts and his team of actors and musicians. Micky Younts and his troupe are still performing around the world. They were featured in the New York Times Magazine "Playhouse Review" as well as being on the cover of the NY Times Book Review.
The Playhouse still tours to this day in an effort to find women who will put on a show for men.
