Jungle Cruise is the latest addition to the ever-expanding Disney line of animated movies and attractions. The film has taken Hollywood by storm, earning itself an Academy Award for Best Picture. Directed by Gore Verbinger, the film stars Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, Dabney Coleman, Sidney Poitier, Ben Kingsley, Morgan Freeman, and Kurt Russell. The cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Efren Ramirez, and Kelly McDonough.
From the moment the movie first debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Jungle Cruise was set to be one of the biggest flops of the year. The film failed to even receive a Best Picture nomination, and after a string of late trailers and teasers, it seemed that Disney had little chance of turning Jungle Cruise into a smash hit. However, things have changed since the film's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Last weekend, the film picked up six additional Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Score. Now, Jungle Cruise is set to debut in July, giving Disney a real shot at winning the Oscar for Best Picture.
The recent slew of great movie tie-ins to its Jungle Cruise release include several new attraction plans at the Magic Kingdom. The Animal Kingdom has now confirmed that they will add the Enchanted Forest and Twister's Kingdom to the existing Disney World Jungle Cruise. Also coming to the Magic Kingdom soon is the Finding Nemo Show from Disney Pacific, which will use the animated movie's main characters to explain the story to visitors. These updates to both the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom are sure to be a big hit with Jungle Cruise guests and kids.
There's more exciting news for Animal Kingdom visitors and Jungle Cruise fans. A few weeks before the movie opens, the Florida Department of Land and Wildlife is scheduled to host an online poll for the best Jungle Cruise name. The top four names are being suggested by park insiders, the audience, and a special guest. No word yet on who that would be but you can look forward to an exciting announcement soon. If you want to take part, you simply need to sign up for their email newsletter.
On top of the exciting new additions at Universal Studios Orlando, the Park will also offer exclusive access to the Disney owned Animal Kingdom. There will be no more standing in line for a Fastpass entrance. With just a short walk, you can gain entrance to the jungle cruise at the front of the park. On top of these awesome offers, there are several other special inclusions available July 1st, such as a meet and greet with animals in the wildlife area, meet and greet characters with fireworks every night, special dining deals during the week of the premier, and even access to select Disney rides.
As we near the end of summer, the month of July will welcome the hottest ticket sellers, both online and off. That's when Jungle Cruise will be offering special discounts to guests of the Jungle Cruise. This could very well be the beginning of another theme park attraction slump. But as always, Disney is always coming up with exciting new ideas to entertain our little guests. So don't miss out on this opportunity to add another fun ride to your vacation.
