Based on the true story of a young girl who stumbles upon a "Witch Doctor" in the woods, Cruella de Vil is set to be a high-tech fantasy thriller that combines elements of horror and magic in a twist on a traditional fairy tale. The original 'Criella' character was inspired by the famous French fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, and has become a worldwide phenomenon. Disney has just announced that a forthcoming live-action remake of the 90s Disney princess movie, Cruella, will hit theaters on May 14, 2021.
Already a favorite animated Disney Channel show, Cruella follows the mischievous mischievousness of its lead character, a beautiful young girl (played by actress Rica Kaye) whose greatest wish is to be a real "Criella" - a spell binding fairy. Unlike the sweet, innocent Snow White, Cruella is more self-centered and arrogant. She plots to conquer the world and banishes her rival to the underground. To her dismay, her wicked stepmother concocts a plan to trap her - but with help from an unlikely hero, the mystical fairy Agdistis. The adventures of the beautiful young woman and her two magical friends, Dufleur and Albin, are sung by actress Ariel Winter (voice of Mulan, among others).
It was reported that during the summer, Disney planned to adapt the animated live-action feature film into a three-part animated series, but the plan was eventually changed into a full-fledged four-part series, which will begin running on September 8, 2021. As the name suggests, the new series will star up the female lead, Cruella de Vil, as she pursues the evil witch and her two evil compatriots, culminating in their ultimate defeat. In the meantime, the original "Criella" character will undergo some changes, in both appearance and attitude. A mullet and mohawk are set to be added to her look, as well as her new canine companion, St. Croix, a reference to the dog-fighting villain in the book.
The new series will likely face off against other live-action adaptations such as Disney's adaptation of Mulan, which is currently in development. Expect to see a lot more Dora the Explorer episodes, and possibly some Mulan spin-offs, as well. There are also expected to be a few live-action adaptations of Barbie, including a possible Mulan 3 film. We can only hope that there will be more live-action adaptations of 1001 Dalmatians, including possibly an animated film of that character.
One thing we can be sure of is that Cruella de Vil will continue to receive her fair share of attention in the animation community. Recently, she was featured in the online video game called Firewatch, a game which is highly popular among online gamers. According to sources, there is even a possibility that she could appear in the upcoming adaptation of Disney's animated classic, A Bug's Life. Regardless of whether Cruella ends up appearing in these or other cartoons, one can only wait and see what kind of impact she will have on the animation world. For those of us who like to play the cartoons for fun and who aren't necessarily considering a career in animation, this is one example of a rare occurrence where a fictional character from a popular animated film will star in an actual animated production.
While it's difficult to pinpoint exactly how often Cruella will appear on television, we can make educated guesses. Since the first season of the show is about to begin, I wouldn't be surprised if she makes at least a few appearances over the next few months. In the meantime, there are several ways for you to view all of Cruella De Vil's videos online, including YouTube, Hulu and Facebook. If you enjoy watching cartoons, chances are you'll love watching a new episode of Cruella. If not, there are still other live streaming shows available to watch online.
