Welcome to Sudden Death: A Death Mystery by Mark Johnson is a novel that doesn't try too hard. In fact, I could have easily put this book down after a while because of the way it ended. However, if you're looking for something light-hearted and fun, this one is great!
If you are looking for something more complex than that, Sudden Death might not be for you. It's not that it's a bad read, it just lacks complexity.
As with most death mystery novel, I don't want to spoil much, but the plot revolves around an individual dying at the beginning of the novel. He is rushed into surgery to fix his heart condition. The first thing he notices is that he is not dying as he expected. Instead, he has a stroke! This leaves him paralyzed and unable to communicate.
This leads him to a small town in Maine, where some people believe he is in heaven. John Johnson is the town's mayor and he also happens to be a psychiatrist. He tries to help him adjust to his new life, but when the story begins, he realizes that he has a difficult time talking. John is a bit of a loner and often feels like he does not belong in his surroundings.
One day, a girl in town asks John to take her on a date. But John can't remember anything about her. After he fails to recall her name, he starts to realize that he might have killed her. He realizes that he must leave town or else he will die. As he moves towards this realization, he begins to remember more about the girl, including what happened when she was younger.
Eventually, John realizes that he did not kill her at all. It's not until the end of the book when he realizes that he has some important information about the woman in the first place. After he tells her about the girl, she dies in John's arms. This is a fantastic ending that I enjoyed, but it would have been nice to see this book to finish on a good note.
Overall, Welcome to Sudden Death is a good mystery novel that involves death and mystery. There is no romance, which makes it harder for me to read the entire book. However, it is definitely a good read for the adventure and suspense.
In conclusion, I think it's a book I could recommend to everyone, especially if they are looking for a book with a unique storyline. This book offers a unique twist on a classic story that has been told before. The book ends on a cliffhanger and then leads the reader to think about the story's ending.
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy mystery and thriller books, but have difficulty finishing them. as this book is very easy to read through.
