If you enjoy superhero action movies then you're sure to love "We the People of Earth." In fact, this latest blockbuster movie starring Nicholas Cage as our President, the first African-American President of the United States, makes the ideal sequel to any superhero movie you have ever seen. With an all star cast including Cage's good friend, Denholm Elliott, "We the People of Earth" is a fun and entertaining film that will keep you guessing at what is going on throughout the film. You also have an unlikely pair of unlikely heroes to put alongside President Obama in this film as Jake Green (Cage) and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (George Clooney) join forces to protect the planet.
Jake Green, who is a scientist, becomes President of the United States in the stead of President Obama when his own term comes to an end. When aliens from another planet abduct Earth's only superheroes, their counterparts must team up with the President and other heroes from the other side of the globe to save the planet and their loved ones. With a unique combination of computer-generated visual effects and traditional acting, "We the People of Earth" is a surprisingly accurate depiction of how life in the USA would be during a national crisis. In addition, the movie has some interesting 3-D animation and visual special effects.
The story centers on the unlikely pairing of President Obama and Shark Boy, a disillusioned teen who saves the president from being abducted by the alien invaders in space. At first, President Obama appears to be the butt of many pranks but he soon gets the better of the bullies and realizes that although the other heroes are fighting against the villains, he needs their help to defeat them. Through the course of the movie, our nation's leaders become disillusioned with President Obama because they believe he is making a hasty and ill-informed decision based on politics and personal interest. This causes much rancor amongst the citizens of the USA.
In this movie, the alien invaders are always shown as evil, though they do have motives for stealing the president's plane and crashing it. However, they are shown as being willing to negotiate with the president. President Obama is portrayed as a gifted speaker and public speaker but in real life he is a weak and inexperienced leader who often has his steps stepped on by others. He often needs rescuing from under the stairs or having his agenda pushed through the parliament with the help of the other heroes. This helps him learn the importance of working together as a team and these lessons are later shown in his future escapades with Shark Boy.
