On paper this sounds like a fairly simple concept. In practice, The Stand In plays out like a semi-realistic comedy/comedy show about how all of humanity can come together, regardless of race, class or creeds.

The Stand In is one of the very best e-mails that the internet has ever seen, and it's one of the reasons why The Erwin Brothers is now considering some of the greatest comedians of our time. The Stand In isn't the greatest movie or the funniest film that anyone could claim to have seen, but it is a very funny movie (and it is very funny in parts). For a movie that only cost about $30 million to make, The Stand In easily earns its C Cinema rating, and it remains one of the best comedies directed by Mel Brooks to date. The Stand In is just what the name says: an out-of-control political battle that pits President Obama against Majority Leader John McCain.

In The Stand In (2040), a pair of politicians becomes friends, and they quickly discover that they can work together to solve America's problems. President Obama is re-elected, and his new term begins with him working alongside Senator John McCain (Eddie Murphy). With the help of the press, public relations expert, Ben Affleck plays a media adviser to the president, C.C. odes Smith (Kurt Russell) is the White House press secretary, and press secretary to the first lady. President Obama is also forced to work alongside his new media-trained cabinet, which includes a secretary for domestic affairs, a surgeon for national security issues, cabinet members for labor and environmental issues, a science advisor, cabinet members for energy and commerce, and cabinet members for education.

Meanwhile, Sam Bain plays the lead role of Senator John McCain's campaign aide. Together they plot ways to deal with a new stimulus package that the government is trying to pass. The Stand In also includes Michael Zegen as a character that has the power of persuasion. Although the movie doesn't entirely relate to any of the presidential candidates' plans, the storyline of the movie makes a great deal of sense: it is an intelligent, successful way for the country to deal with an ongoing crisis.

Although The Stand In (2040) is not exactly a comedy, it is far from a slant on the political world. It is a smart and entertaining drama about how leaders of our country work to get things done.
