The Silencing by Christopher Paolini is another of his great urban fantasy series, this time focusing on two female detectives who find themselves at odds with each other. As the title suggests, they find themselves caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse in order to hunt down a killer who might have just kidnapped his daughter several years ago.
In the Silencing, the female detective is more powerful than the male detective. As such, the female detective has more ability to use her wits to uncover a person's identity. At first, the male detective is quite jealous of her situation, but he eventually begins to realize that she is actually quite capable of handling situations in her career.
There are many twists and turns in The Silencing, but most of them are quite predictable. Most of the twists happen only once, when the female detective tries to take over the female detective's position in the case. This usually results in the female detective taking over the case, even if the male detective will not cooperate with her.
Once she gains control of the case, the male detective is usually taken off guard. He has been working for her in secret and knows that she is more powerful than him. He tries to get rid of her, but she gets even more powerful because of her skills. She then becomes an unstoppable force when she realizes that she has no choice but to run the case.
The female detective also gets a new sidekick in the form of a talking cat. The cat is a good companion and will help the female detective in many of the investigation procedures. The cat has to be trained to be able to do his job right though, since he does not know anything about the case at all.
I highly recommend The Silencing by Christopher Paolini. It has been a long time since I have read one of his books and I can tell that this one is going to be something that I am interested in reading again soon. The story is captivating and the twists and turns are completely predictable, which gives the readers a chance to think.
In addition to being completely predictable, it's the character development makes the book extremely interesting. The female detective is a great character and I am sure that many women will find the story quite inspiring. I know that I found myself getting emotional while reading this book and having a very good time.
I would definitely recommend The Silencing to all women who like to read romantic mysteries. If you are interested in a novel that will make you cry, you should definitely consider reading The Silencing.
