The Last Sharknado: Its About Time features one of the funniest movies of 2020, and is a must-see for all die-hard fans of the original Sharknados. The sequel of the hit movie The Last Sharknadoes also stars Billy Crystal, but this time it centers around a very special group of sharks. The movie was co-written by Kevin Kolsch, who co-created The Big Lebowski with Aaron Sorkin.
The film revolves around a group of sharks called the Sharksnados, who are hired to guard the property of a wealthy family. However, when the property gets damaged in a storm, a number of creatures are left stranded on the property, including the Sharksnados. They try to return to land and escape the wrath of the family, only to find themselves in a series of hijinks along the way.
Kevin Kolsch, who wrote the screenplay, does an excellent job of rehashing the ideas that made The Last Shreknados such a huge success. He also injects his own twists and turns to the story that make it a lot of fun. However, if you're a fan of The Last Shreknados, then you'll probably be turned off by the change in plot. This isn't the same as saying that the original movie was bad, just that this one doesn't have the same sort of charm that the original had. It has its good points though, including the brilliant ending.
Like most of Kolsch's previous movies, the movie is a comedy and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's funny, with plenty of jokes that are based on real events. However, there are also some things going on which to take the attention away from the main plot, which is what happens in this movie. If you're looking for a serious movie, then this won't be your cup of tea.
If you don't like comedies, then you may want to pass up The Last Sharknado. In fact, it doesn't feature any real comedy parts at all. Kolsch spends too much time on the story and characters, so if you hate comedy you may not get much from this movie. On the other hand, if you love comedy then you will probably enjoy it. It's definitely worth watching, but you can't recommend it highly enough.
Overall, the movie is a bit of a disappointment, but I do wish that Kolsch had taken the time to bring more attention to the cast and story. Because the end of the movie doesn't quite live up to the original, the movie never reaches its potential. However, it is still a good laugh every time.
