A concept film about a millionaire attorney who is trapped in a boring office where he has to watch all the same series of commercials, then he is summoned by the mysterious doctor of the Invisible Man to join him and help him with a new project. In fact he knows nothing about this project and the person who called him does not either.
A team is assembled, The Invisible Man, played by James Earl Jones. Scientist from NASA. A young girl played by Heather Graham. But she's not an actress, but an archaeologist who are trying to find out the mystery behind the invisible man.
He tries to create a dog with three heads by removing the eyes from one head and putting them on the others. They try and he fails each time. He goes on a trip to New York, when he is joined by his assistant John Lithgow. This character is played by Robert Stone. As it turns out he's a schizophrenic who is to be tested for the disease.
On the trip, he is confronted by an unknown woman who tells him that he needs to have a trip to Kansas. His assistant makes him come back to New York, they get into a fight and a shot is fired which kills a friend of John Lithgow. John gets shot but not fatally so he goes to the hospital, then they meet the mystery woman in his hotel room and she cuts his throat.
Then she tells him that he needs to stay and give her a visit, then he sees her again and it's the masked woman again, who is now played by Tatum O'Neal. She appears to be trying to find out more about the identity of The Invisible Man. Now he's trapped in a room and there are machines in his head telling him that he's crazy. They have to get him out of the room.
At the end, after some dialogue, he gets shot again and the movie ends with his head removed. And we're left with just the same old TV spots, most of which are popular TV show ads. "You should consider our products and services".
Some critics say that this movie is an easy plot to follow but a weak acting job, with a lot of confusing scenes that require an extra learning curve for the audience. Others say that while this is a movie with many twists and turns, it's really a simple plot to follow. A movie that doesn't deserve to be called a classic.
But, let's not forget that The Invisible Man is still a movie, which we can watch and see as a movie to relax, watch a good movie, have a good time and forget about the problems of today. And, at the end, we still remember that The Invisible Man was the film to see when you really needed to be relaxed. I mean, what else can you do?
