The movie of Extraction is a sequel to The Matrix. The storyline is about the continuation of the same basic premise. The virtual world in which people inhabit has been shattered and a new system has been established by a group of hackers that appear to be pushing the limits of human interaction, and not being trustworthy at all.
The movie itself doesn't provide too much in the way of action scenes. The movie takes a break from action to provide more emotional moments. The characters in the movie also don't get their fair share of screen time.
The movie doesn't offer much in the way of technology in the movie, but the visuals used in the movie are very well done. Everything looks like it was well created and if you watch it in slow motion it will look like a real life scene. The camera moves so fluidly throughout the movie that I thought they would fall down several times, but each time they were fine. The camera also keeps moving even when the action stops so there are no cutaways that go out of focus or blur.
The online users in the online Matrix are called Clones, and they are what has caused so much destruction in the physical world. They possess almost superhuman abilities including flying, superhuman strength, super speed, superhuman durability, super hearing, healing factor, immortality, and more. The story of the movie follows three Clones as they try to find the leader of their society and decide whether or not they can trust him. However, things don't go as planned and there is danger for the Clones and the Matrix as well.
In the end, however, the Clones decide to take the final end of the Matrix by themselves in order to end the total destruction of the Matrix. Their new leader, Simon (Marcus Young), and his decision to take the final steps to ending the Matrix's influence. This ends the movie, but this could have also been a part of the ending if they had not been defeated by the Neo and Trinity.
The action in the movie is pretty intense and there is some awesome action throughout the movie, but it does get kind of tedious. It is not like the action from the original Matrix where the computer generated action where nothing but a computer graphic and the action was fast paced and exciting. This movie takes place in real time and all the characters and locations are shown in real time and then brought back to life by computers. This also adds to the problem with getting into the online Matrix because that's just not real life.
It is supposed to be a scary online experience and while it is that, there is little sense of it because of the fast pace and lack of planning. There are no shades of gray because everything is black and white.
I personally liked the original Matrix better because it was less slow and more exciting. If the director had planned the movie differently it would have been much better. Still, I'd recommend the movie because it is still pretty good.
