Ava Cantrell (also known as Eva Mendes) is an Australian actress and dancer, most well known for playing Penelope Pritchard (aka. The Haunted Hathaways) on the Nickelodeon television series The Haunted. She was born in Australia but raised in California. As a child she was very interested in movies and began taking acting classes when she turned fifteen.

In 2020, she was cast as Lola, the daughter of a high ranking military official, in the TV series The Seria Saga. In the first season of The Seria Saga, Lola and her sister, Elspeth, were part of an elite group of children that were abducted by a mysterious entity. The sister's mother, Miri, went missing with Lola, who then made a deal with the mysterious entity to be rescued. However, after she was kidnapped by the entity, she was forced to return to the military academy where she was born, while Lola and Elspeth were left with a new home.

In a later episode of The Seria Saga, Lola discovers that the entity that abducted her and Elspeth has been controlling her for years. She realizes that the entity wants her to become a child bride and becomes determined to get back at the entity. While she is trying to get back at the entity, her sister Elspeth is also trying to reunite with her mother.

Ava's role on The Seria Saga ended after season one. However, she did appear in the second season of the show, where she appeared as a recurring character. She has had two different appearances in two different episodes of the second season. Ava was the main villain in the second episode of the show, "Eve of Destruction", which aired in September of 2020.

Ava was also cast in the third season of The Seria Saga, which premiered in October of 2020. In this episode, she was forced to take a leave of absence from the show after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The second season of The Seria Saga, in which Ava was absent, was not renewed for another season in order to give time for her to recover from her illness. Ava however, was back on the show in season three.

Ava is now known for portraying two different characters in two different television shows: the daughter of Lola in The Seria Sagas, and the sister of Elspeth in The Seria Saga. The two characters are portrayed in such a way that each character represents a different aspect of each character's life, but both share the same love of the genre. She has also appeared in an animated film, which was released in 2020.
