Books of Blood is a group of short stories written in an alternate universe based around the events surrounding the Civil War and the rise of the Black Death pandemic. Each book in this series covers a particular story, and the readers are presented with a choice between two possible paths to follow. The reader has the option of choosing between solving one problem and allowing the story to be ruined by another. The result is a gripping, suspenseful read full of intense action, mystery, horror, and psychological drama.
The first book in the series, Nightbreed, was written under the pen name Richard Gavin. He was working as an author, but later abandoned this profession because he found that his writing had become too personal for him. Instead, he turned to the paranormal genre and began publishing a series of short horror stories under the name of Nightbreed. His first book, entitled "The Warded Man", was a huge success and won him the Gold Medal for Best Fantasy Book of 1985. In his second book, "The Long Green Room", Nightbreed also won the Gold Medal and was nominated for the British Science Fiction Award.
The main character in the series is Clive Barker himself, a man who has spent years writing horror novels. He decided to write these novels in an alternate reality, and has taken the role of writer-for-hire for many of the writers from other worlds who will want to get a hold of his work for publication.
The books of Blood were originally published in bookshops and later on the Internet, but the main source of their distribution has been the Internet. The Internet allows readers to access a larger number of publications than ever before. Furthermore, these publications can be accessed almost anywhere in the world, without having to leave home, thanks to the wide network of web sites and databases devoted to the publishing industry.
The stories in Books of Blood have always been rated highly by critics. They have been widely praised for their gripping plot, excellent plot twists, imaginative characters, and vivid descriptions of violence and horror.
