Beckman Institute for Advanced Study is one of the leading research centers in the U.S. It has over 40 years of experience in the fields of chemistry, engineering, biology and physics. It is a non-profit educational institution with campuses in Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. As a part of the Beckman Group, the institute works on many projects that address the fundamental challenges of society. The current project focuses on producing synthetic drugs, and the goal is to provide a new medical arena to the world.
Qian Chen Professor of Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics, Qian Chen will discuss her team's recent advancement in the field of TEM using ultra-low dose liquid-state TEM. The Institute Store: The Art of Creative Reuse: Lessons in Creative Reuse from the Institute Store illustrate how to create a company internally by reusing existing products. The concept store includes numerous resources, including videos, product demonstrations, product kits, and product catalogs, all designed to help you get started. The store will have a section devoted to manufacturing and supply. The manufacturing section provides easy access to many popular pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies. The supply section contains products needed to build a laboratory for drug synthesis or analysis, such as laboratory bags, glassware, syringes, and other tools.
Professor Qian Cao will also talk about the upcoming release of the Institute's Molecular Dynamics Resources. This resource series will teach students the concepts of molecular dynamics in a fun and engaging way. The Resource Library has over three thousand pages of content covering a wide range of topics. In addition, the Resource Store features a huge section dedicated to teaching materials and software.
Online educational video seminars are an emerging trend in science education. As more students take their work home, they may benefit from an interactive webinar. Online seminars will allow students the chance to interact with each other as well as the instructor.
In the Summer Seminar Series, the Institute hosts a series of six free lectures on new projects in the field of TEM. Students who want to participate can register for these free lectures online. All lectures are scheduled in the Lecture Room. The lectures are held on Tuesday evenings at 7pm local time.
All lectures are recorded for playback. You will be able to view and listen to the lecture again and share your own observations during the free lectures.
