Jumanji: The Next Level is a good movie, but it's one of those that's difficult to describe. Since it involves an anthropomorphic cartoon, we need some help if we're going to describe it.
The basic story is about the strangest character that has ever been invented in this strange world. Jumanji, the villain, was created by the brain child of two video game designers. They thought they could do the impossible and make a funny and enjoyable movie. While it may not be perfect, it is definitely a smart choice.
It starts off with a simple background story about a man named Henry Winkler (voiced by Will Ferrell), who creates a character that the audience will recognize as a four-leaf clover that also shows up in the wild. He decides to come up with a good sounding name for his character and the name Jumanji is chosen. Of course, he quickly loses control of the character.
He changes its look and it goes through different adventures, thus becoming a character that the movie refers to as "Jumanji." In the end, he gains back his original body and chooses to go on with his life.
The movie is witty and fun to watch. It's supposed to be funny, but not too much that it loses itself from what it's trying to do. They wisely kept some of the surprises from the first movie, like how Jumanji begins and how things start to change around him.
Although it is still funny and light-hearted, the movie is a bit predictable. It may be that it is trying to get back into the same type of comfort zone.
However, the movie may prove to be a really entertaining one for the avid fans of the video game developer. Jumanji: The Next Level will bring a good laugh, and that is a major plus for moviegoers.
If you have never watched the original movie, then you should give it a chance, because there are lots of exciting aspects to the movie that will surely catch your attention. Just be prepared to have a little nostalgia along the way.
