The Platform is a recent mini-series based on a comic book by Jeff Smith. It is about a web-based application that has many users. The app also sends personal data about the user to someone from another platform (for example, Facebook).
This may seem like a very simple point of view, but actually, the concept of the app is very complex. It was created by Scott Van Pelt and his son Michael to have a place to share pictures of their family with other friends on the internet. They called it platform, because it allowed people to see the photos of their kids from any platform they are on.
When I watch The Platform movie, I was amazed how it was built and planned. It was not something that was done in a day or two. It took a lot of thinking and research.
The website that Scott used to build the app was MySpace. MySpace is known for its "circle" function. Users can start a circle with their names of their friends. Then, they can invite others to join the circle with the name or as the guest of the selected user.
The main part of the platform was the "connect" feature. This allowed for any user to add another user to the group or the Facebook wall. By connecting, a user can see the profile of another user. So, one can see the status of another user by looking at the wall of another user.
Another reason why the app was so popular is that it was free. When they launched the app, it had only four users. But, later, the number of users increased significantly and it has become a very popular app today.
The movie itself depicts the popularity of the app. This is because many people love to talk to others over the internet. The platform allows people to communicate with friends, relatives, coworkers and others.
The Platform is a series that I really liked and enjoyed watching. If you want to know more about the program, you can check out its website below.
