If you are looking for a movie that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, then "I See You" is what you need. This is one of my favorite films from the 1990's. This movie is available on DVD, and you can even watch it on Netflix. The plot of the movie is about a young girl who is released from a reformatory after being caught by the police and thrown into a hole, along with two other criminals. It is her luck that one of the criminals manages to escape custody, while she is placed in the holding cell.
Once she starts to go crazy, she starts talking to a newspaper stand clerk, and tells him all of her story. He tells one of his reporters, who then decides to help her. They manage to bust one of the convicts, and after they ask him a few questions, he tells them his name. Now this guy is hot on the radar of the police, so he makes sure to tell them everything that they need to know. After the two cops interview him, they are impressed with his knowledge and intelligence, which is why they offer him a job.
The movie starts with a sequence where the girl is talking on the phone to her sister, talking about how she feels bad that she is in a hole, and she just wants to find a way to get out. The phone rings, and she answers it, but when she does, there is nobody on the other end. She panics, and dials 911 on her cell phone. An ambulance shows up at the scene, and while paramedics are taking care of her, she runs out of the house, into the dark parking lot. This is where the movie begins to get exciting.
Soon, she is caught by a carjacking assailant and is taken to the lockup in the back of the van. As she is being led into the cells, the other prisoners inside can be seen through a small window. Through the glass, they can see one of the convicts, Frank, who is standing next to the girl. He instantly recognizes her from the mug shot that was uploaded online and identifies her as Karen. He then tells one of the guards to take her to the psych unit, where she will be seen by a psychiatrist.
From here, the movie progresses exactly as you would expect, with the girl crawling out of the back of the van, and the guys helping her escape. Frank also shows up at the end of the movie, after some time has passed, but is soon followed by one of the other convicts, Devon. Frank is obviously trying to help her escape, but is stopped by Devon before he can get very far. The end of the movie shows us that the internet has influenced movies quite a bit, and it looks like we are going to see quite a few more movies pulled off this way over the coming months and years.
