Descendants has been the first saga of Disney Channel that manages to have two sequels, although it seems that after its last chapter, released in early August, no there will be more adventures for the children of the most popular villains and heroes in the world of Disney.
Starring Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart and Cameron Boyce, the trilogy begins when Ben, the son of Beauty and Beast, is about to inherit the throne of Auradon and decides as the first royal proclamation to give the children of the cruelest villains in history a chance to study at Auradon. So Mal, daughter of Maleficent, Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen, Jay, son of Jafar, and Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil, arrive to study at Auradon High School, and although initially they intend to destroy everything, In the end they rectify and save the kingdom.
In that context, Mal has a dream life with Ben and his friends, but in the second installment, the pressure to be perfect takes her back to the Island of the Lost, where she meets Uma, the daughter of Úrsula, who plans to tear down the magic barrier.
After an epic fight between Mal and Uma like a dragon and a giant octopus, respectively, this sequel ends with Mal reuniting with Ben, while Uma swims away from there.
Finally, in Descendants 3, after an incident with Hades that endangers the security of Auradon, Mal decides to close the barrier forever and although she thinks it is the best to ensure the welfare of the kingdom, she prefers not to tell her friends.
Contrary to what Mal believed, the main threat to Auradon does not come from the Island of the Lost, but from the same kingdom. Audrey, Aurora's daughter, who returned to high school after a season in the Enchanted Forest, does not support the idea of Mal marrying Ben and becoming queen, since she believes she should be in her place.
All this added to the constant reproaches of her grandmother, lead her to become the villain of the story. Audrey steals the scepter of Maleficent and adds all Auradon in a deep sleep, from which only Jane, daughter of the Fairy Godmother, and the protagonists who at that time were on the island seeking the fire of Hades.
While on the Island of the Lost, Mal confronts Hades, his father, to undo the spell he cast on the Sleeping Beauty daughter, and before returning to the kingdom, Uma and his henchmen reappear to complicate things. However, after Mal agreed to open the barrier for any villain son who wishes to go to high school, the troubled young woman joins the heroes.
As they overcome each Audrey's attack, both groups realize that they have more things in common than differences, but when peace seemed to reign, the truth that Mal was trying to hide comes to light: the barrier will close forever, and everyone, feeling betrayed, they turn their backs on her.
Without his old friends and recent allies, Mal must face Audrey alone to save everyone in Auradon. Although once again it becomes a dragon, the power of the scepter of Maleficent is superior and without Uma's support, Hades' fire does not work.
Seeing that Mal's defeat is imminent, Uma does the right thing and helps ignite the fire of Hades, which allows the dragon to impose itself on the witch / princess. However, Audrey is unconscious, somewhat ironic considering her mother's story.
To wake her up, Maleficent's daughter turns to her father, the king of the underworld, and manages to save Audrey's life. This shows that a 'hero' can do wrong and a 'villain' can do good.
In the end, the barrier that separates the Island of the Lost from Auradon is destroyed and, villains and heroes are back together.
